With one of the largest available lift access ski areas Rusutsu Resort is our personal favourite. It has awesome tree runs and epic powder bowls that feed almost straight off the top lift stations. It also has the widest and longest groomed areas which make it perfect for those who are still finding their confidence in the deep snow.
Rusutsu has 1,700 hectares of skiable terrain, 37 trails with the longest being 3.5km and a total of 42km of trails across the resort. In addition to this, Rusutsu has the only side country park in the area, with a heap of natural drops and jumps with pillow landings for you to practice your tricks.
It is also well known for its delicious food and quirkiness. In the main hotel you can visit a variety of gift stores, admire the French Provincial reconstruction, go for a ride on a merry-go-round or be completely confused by a talking tree. Rusutsu also has a petting zoo for the little ones. It’s well worth a look if you want an epic, powder-filled day with a wacky twist.
Time
Your tour will usually commence at 7.30am if you want first lifts. Otherwise please specify your preferred start time when you contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you. Includes up to 6 hours at the resort + travel time.
Photography
Your guide will also be a professional photographer and will take magazine quality photos of you the entire day. You will receive these images in high resolution via a link to our online archive within one week after your tour. If you would prefer a video to photos it is an extra ¥10,000 and includes a professionally edited short film with music.
Transport
We will pick you up from your accommodation and drop you home at the end of the day... unless of course you would like to join us for an apres at The Brick Bar instead where you get 50% off your first drink.
What to Bring
Please bring all your own ski attire and equipment. All tours going off piste need an avalanche safety pack which includes a beacon, probe and shovel. if you don't have your own we rent these for ¥3,000 per day. For longer tours you will also need to bring your lunch or money for lunch and plenty of water.

Rusutsu hosts a range of terrain and lifts – from magic carpets for beginners to high-speed gondolas and natural terrain parks for the more advanced. The best thing about Rusutsu is that even if you are not the same level skier or boarder, you can still enjoy a day at Rusutsu together. The off-piste zones lie between the piste zones, which means that one guide can take the intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders through the powder zones and trees, while another guide takes the beginners or kids through the piste zones. You can all meet in the same location at the bottom to give each other high fives. This truly is a family-friendly resort.
